CHAPTER FOUR CREATION EVENTS: DAYS ONE AND TWO Genesis 1:2 gives a hint, at least, that God’s work of creating life on Earth may have begun before the first events recorded in the following six days of creation. The last clause of that verse tells us that “the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.” The Hebrew word for “hovering” is rahap.1 It appears only one other time in the Bible, in Deuteronomy 32:11.
